Position Summary

Waters Edge has a full-time opening for a Project Designer. Our team is looking for a driven professional who enjoys their work, has a healthy interest in learning, and a strong drafting ability. This position is responsible for design principals as they pertain to aquatic facilities, including creating, modifying, and or/refining engineering plans, drawings, and exhibits. A focus of the position will be on preparing construction documents and technical design. Salary is commensurate with experience.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed AutoCAD and/or Revit exhibits and construction documents including site plans, concrete structural details, process piping, and water treatment systems
  • Review scope of project, engineering, and client requirements, and perform research necessary to determine critical elements of design
  • Confer with engineering and other personnel to clarify and resolve problems
  • Receive survey data and prepare detailed designs, documents, drawings, and/or exhibits for review and approval
  • Review field data and project information, create design concepts, and produce preliminary design as required
  • Receive client revisions and produce final design and drawings
  • Review shop drawings and process them as needed
  • Archive project information into the construction document library
  • Perform site observation visits as needed
  • Coordinate a variety of project information and issues with clients, contractors, and sub-consultants as necessary
  • Work directly with engineers, project managers, internal and external clients, to develop project concepts, plans, and images needed for decision making and construction.
  • Support office staff with basic design calculations and related research

 

Qualifications & Experience

An ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s or associates degree in Drafting and/or Design, and experience in computer-aided design.

 Required skills and abilities include:

  • 2 – 10+ years of experience
  • Apply standard math skills, work with mathematical fundamentals such as plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and slope calculations
  • Understand and apply drafting skills such as using scales, contours, creating plan views, cutting sections, creating elevations, drawing details, laying out plan sheets, referencing drawings and details, and other drafting skills as required
  • Proficient in Revit or AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to complete multiple projects/tasks within an established schedule
  • Ability to visualize designs based on written and verbal directives
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Self-starter with critical thinking skills and close attention to detail
  • Positive attitude with a creative mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Beneficial skills and abilities include:

  • Experience with Revit
  • Experience with water/wastewater design
  • Experience with site design, concrete detailing, and piping details, specifically water treatment process piping such as water treatment process
  • Experience working in the field of engineering or architecture
  • Hands-on experience with construction practices

  • Work schedules are Monday – Friday
  • Must be able to show examples of work product, including drawings, concepts, etc.
