The Wentzville Splash Station Aquatic Center began as a joint effort between the city and the school district because of a shared site. The aquatic center was envisioned to be a major component of a $20 million parks project, which would replace the city’s aging pool and site with modern park amenities.
In collaboration with Jacobs Facilities, Waters Edge designed a one-of-a-kind aquatic center that features a bridge over the lazy river to an island with a spiral ramp. At the bottom of the ramp is a small spray ground and an ADA accessible entry into the lazy river. The facility was also designed with a large deck area with plenty of lounge chairs. The large deck affords the patrons a nice view of the lazy river and the surrounding landscaping of the facility.
Also included in the design is a distinctive stand-alone diving well and plunge pool that are separated by the lazy river. The large plunge pool was designed to accommodate the future addition of a second water slide. The facility is also highlighted by an interactive play structure and 4 underwater benches. The SplashDome play structure has multiple water slides and an array of sprays that are perfect for toddlers and young kids. Additionally, 4 water benches with sun shades are spaced throughout the facility for those that wish to stay cool and out of the hot sun.
