The Sibley Municipal Pool had originally opened in 1956 and had undergone renovations in the 80s and 90s. The pool was experiencing unsustainable daily water loss and the concrete structure started failing. The City of Sibley wanted to add several new features while keeping as much of the pool structure as possible. With Waters Edge Aquatic Design's help in the planning process, Sibley’s residents passed a funding vote in 2017 and the renovation began.

The original zero-depth area was demolished and rebuilt, the basin was re-designed to have sectioned areas for certain features and lap lanes were added. A portion of the deck was renovated to accommodate a splash pad with additional fencing allowing access to the splash pad outside of pool hours. The new Sibley Outdoor Aquatic Center opened in 2019 with 8,004 square feet of water surface area.
