The Capitol Federal Natatorium, with 12,960 square feet of water surface area, at Hummer Sports Park was designed as part of a larger sports complex which includes track, baseball, softball, soccer, and football fields. The aquatic center in the City of Topeka was designed to support swimming and diving competitions as well as lifeguard training, scuba diving lessons, and recreational swimming. Also, to accommodate large swim meets, the competition pool was equipped with a moveable bulkhead that allows for eight 25-meter, eight 25-yard, or eight 50-meter lanes. Two one-meter diving boards, a three-meter diving board, and seating for 1,000 spectators were also designed for competition meets.
