Ozburn’s Article Seen in Parks & Rec Business Magazine

Waters Edge

An article by Waters Edge employee Lauren Ozburn is in the July 2023 issue of Parks & Rec Business magazine. Ozburn provides tips for improving an aquatic facility as she reflects on her childhood pool days, being a lifeguard, and an aquatic supervisor. Today, as an operations expert and public engagement specialist for Waters Edge, Ozburn’s insights have helped many communities plan for new and renovated aquatic facilities.

In her article, Ozburn identifies one of the main purposes of a pool as a space for childhood memories. To continue to foster childhood memories, communities should be strategically planning their programs and new amenities. To keep “the interest alive,” Ozburn states:

Improvements that are easy to maintain, cost-effective, and noticeable to guests (like the addition of a climbing wall) vs. something hidden in a bathhouse are a good place to start. It may mean adding more shade, resurfacing the zero-depth or diving boards, or adding a basketball goal. Refreshing paint and landscaping, adding more deck chairs, or repainting restrooms are examples of moderate improvements that can increase user satisfaction and provide a new experience.
