After more than 10 years of pool planning for the City of Dodge City, Waters Edge Aquatic Design began designing a new outdoor aquatic park for the community. The pool site is in Wright Park, a major park located just south of the downtown area which also hosts the Hoover Pavilion & Gardens and Wright Park Zoo. A previous pool was built at the same site location, but it sat on a detention basin along the Arkansas River.

Long Branch Lagoon features a four-pool design, consisting of a 50-meter competition pool, a lazy river with an integrated wave pool, and a shallow water leisure pool. Each pool is packed with exciting aquatic features, including rock scaping with waterfalls, various water slides, playful sprays, deep water diving, climbing walls, and a large interactive play structure with a dumping bucket. Let’s not forget the Boomerango feature water slide, which will be the first of its kind in the region and is a major attraction for thrill-seekers! Additionally, the facility has a raised sundeck area great for sunbathing while viewing the park, large concessions, a stage area for performances, and a western/prairie theme that serves to further enhance the experience of its patrons and connect the park to the region's history.
