Waters Edge Aquatic Design is proud to share that the Southeast Community Center indoor pool in Kansas City, Missouri, has been recognized as a 2025 Dream Design by Aquatics International. This annual awards program celebrates extraordinary aquatic facilities and commercial pools.

Opened in June of 2024, the new indoor pool at the community center boasts several aquatic amenities in a compact design, such as a climbing wall, a basketball goal, lap lanes, and several spray features. The striking four-piece mural hanging behind the pool was commissioned specifically for the center and installed in the summer of 2025. By Nashville-based artist Woke3, Water People depicts our deep connection to water—how it moves through our lives beyond just survival. Each piece features individuals the artist met in Kansas City, intimately connecting the piece to the community.

“A clever plot plan maximizes a tight existing space, while locally commissioned art adds to the community connection of this pool replacement,” wrote Aquatics International Deputy Editor Rebecca Robledo.
