The City of Monett was operating an outdoor pool with the YMCA’s assistance since 2004. The existing outdoor pool was built in 1964, with a renovation in 1998 and was in poor condition. Knowing this, a pool planning committee was established, and Waters Edge prepared a current and relevant pool study.
Waters Edge conducted an evaluation prior to planning and design. Creating a summary of their findings as well as multiple options for the city ranging from a basic renovation and extending the life of the current outdoor pool, to enhanced renovations, and finally a new facility. During this time while working with the city staff as well as the community newsletters, social media campaigns, and surveys were created to gather feedback and work towards an ideal design. A proposed location attached to the existing indoor YMCA facility was chosen and Waters Edge worked through the conceptual and design phases.
3D Renderings were created to help the city promote the new aquatic center, including a large billboard sign of the new park. The outdoor center features two new pools, a competition 25-meter lap pool with multiple deep and shallow water slides as well as a shallow rec pool. The shallow rec pool includes an ADA entry ramp as well as a shaded water bench, a tall water tower feature and a family slide.
