Project Type

Location

Ada, Oklahoma

Year Completed

2016

The City of Ada was operating two pools which had served the community for over 50 years. However, due to deteriorating pool conditions and community members seeking aquatics options elsewhere, it was determined that new aquatic centers were needed. Luckily, residents passed a one-cent sales tax extension "A Penny for Our City" which helped fund this undertaking.

Ada community members celebrated the grand opening of Wintersmith Aquatic Center on Saturday, August 27, 2016. With the old Wintersmith pool originally being build in 1958, patrons around the area were excited to bring their families to a new and improved piece of Ada history. Wintersmith is the largest of Ada's two aquatic centers, and construction on Glenwood Aquatic Center across town was completed in the summer of 2017.

Key features include:
• Six 25 meter lap-lanes
• Zero-depth entry pool with a shaded bench
• Small lazy river
• 17-foot enclosed slide
• 17-foot open slide
• Drop slide
• Three-meter platform dive
• Springboard diving board
• Play structure with spray features and a dumping bucket
• Ample shading surrounding the pool deck
• Modern concessions and bathhouse

Both new pools feature modern amenities and offer something for everyone. The aquatic features, materials, detailing, and color selection were chosen to blend modern play features with the preservation of historic parks.
